The Name and Web Address of My Blog
How Long I've Been Blogging and How Often I Post
I have been blogging since Nov, 2007 with postings several times a week.
Why I Decided to Become a Blogger
My son was working as an Internet Marketing manager and web developer in 2007. Because I was Internet savvy, knew some web development tricks, and enjoyed writing, he encouraged me to start a blog about being a grandmother.
My son helped me get started by designing my website and taught me more advanced code. . .probably so I wouldn't have to ask him anymore!
What I've Learned and What Rewards I Have Enjoyed
I wasn't sure what form my blog would take. Nana's Corner has taken several turns since my first post. Now it is a combination of activities to do with grandchildren and poems for important occasions for both grandparents and grandchildren with other topics thrown in that might be of interest to both age groups. My blogging has taken on a life of its own. I now have four blogs related to grandparenting and children. I enjoy blogging because it has given me an opportunity to meet amazing people. Through my blogging, I was able to connect a foundation located in Texas with a gentleman in Connecticut who had 250 tents for Haiti but had difficulty getting them there. I've met other grandmothers with the same love for grandparenting and realization of how important it is to stay connected with their grandchildren. I was honored when the NY Times included a quote from one of my posts on that topic in an online article. I've learned that blogging can be a venue to help others. Through my blogging I've tried to help families in need, provide activities to bring families closer together, and poems for enjoyment and comfort.

I'm amazed at the frequency and length of Nana's posts. She is truly a dedicated blogger! I also really enjoy the poems that she publishes. I think that's what she means by letting one's personality come through. She loves poetry, so she puts it in her blog. It's those little touches that make a blog unique.
