How Long I've Been Blogging and How Often I Post

I have been blogging for 3 years and I like to post weekly.

Why I Decided to Become a Blogger

I have other blogs in decorating but the reason I started the grandparents rights blog was that due to the death of my son I started to lose the rights to visit with his three girls. I needed some place to talk about it without having to put conditions on what I felt like saying. Sometimes it seems that the people around you understand your grief, but they think you should stop grieving at some point and I have never reached that point. I had been writing articles about home decorating for Ezine for a while, and it occurred to me that I could write about my rights as a grandparent and say what I know and feel about the subject.

What I've Learned and What Rewards I Have Enjoyed

The hardest thing for me about this blogging subject is the sadness of the subject matter. I have grown to enjoy sharing my pain and my knowledge with others. My blog has changed for the better because I have learned to put my true feelings into words and have improved in getting my message across to other grandparents.

Advice

  • I would tell any grandparents who are considering blogging to just do it. I take great pride in making videos of my family and sharing my thoughts, experiences and time with other people.
  • Not only has blogging been an outlet for my grief and pain, it has forced me into a learning curve that I might not have taken otherwise. When I was growing up computers didn't exist, but now I can build a blog in just a matter of minutes.
  • I blog about several different subjects and even make a little money doing so. Expand your knowledge and grow.
  • Most of all I would tell grandparents to blog about what is real to them.

Jacquelyn's blog has lots of helpful information, especially for grandparents raising grandchildren and for grandparents seeking visitation rights.
