Adventure Time? Monster High? Trendy birthday party themes leave me cold. But Alice in Wonderland -- there's a classic theme that's newly hot, and rightfully so. Alice would even make a neat theme for a combined birthday party. The book's been around since my grandmother was a child, but it took Tim Burton to bring about an Alice renaissance.

Some of my favorite birthday party themes include Star Wars, Lego, and princesses.
Years ago, my daughter created her own Lion King-themed party and it turned out wonderfully. (Pin the Tail on Simba, etc.) The girls watched one of the Lion King DVDs (I think it was LK 1 1/2) and had a great time. I loved not having to do the work!

I love hats and that black one (mad hatter?) is fantastic. For my first tea party I was taught by my adult to make fudge. Great fun!
