Grand Photo of the Week: Happy Hearts

Making homemade Valentines is one Valentine's Day activity that grandchildren may enjoy.

Is there anything better than a grandchild to make a heart happy? If you're lucky enough to be with your grands today or tomorrow, you can find last-minute ideas for celebrating Valentine's Day on this Pinterest board compiled by some of the parenting Guides. I especially like the heart-healthy games and the healthy snacks. Actually, since our love for our grandchildren knows no season, most of these ideas would be fine for any day of the year.

What are your plans for Valentine's Day? Leave a comment below.

Lucky me, I get to spend Valentine’s Day tomorrow with two of my grandchildren (ages are 4 and 20 months old. I live a distance from them but my daughter’s on vacation this week and she an her will be arriving in a couple of hours and spending the night. Thanks for the ideas! I might try making a heart shaped pizza tonight our supper. If you think that is funny, I once made a heart-shaped meatloaf. I won’t repeat that. I haven’t eaten meatloaf in over 30 years (and don’t miss it!)

Love that photo. Brings back all kinds of memories of making valentines with the kids. Now that they are teens, they are on their own!

She looks so poised and polished. From that Pinterest site, it appears that what I should purchase for the special people in my life isn’t chocolate, but a heart-shaped food cutter and heart-shaped food to go along with it.

We don’t go out on Valentine’s Day, as a rule (too crowded), but we make a nice dinner at home and reminisce about the craziest Valentine’s Day we ever experienced, in Sicily. Every restaurant was completely booked and we finally ended up eating this delicious meal at a place called Baffo’s Castle. There was a string quartet and a special menu. It was total family night – kids, grandparents, etc. – we had worried that our kids would be the only ones in the place, but it was quite the opposite. Kids everywhere!

What a beautiful picture! Does touch the heart! I was hoping to work in Amara’s classroom tomorrow but looks like our girl has caught one of the evil bugs and won’t be going! As for me and Grampy — we don’t really do anything special. But it will be a wonderful day.

Beautiful young lady. Food is not a holiday gift of choice here so we went to Gamestop to pick up two new Skylanders Giants for my grandson and shopped at Justice to get a 1Direction Tshirt and a pair of cut off jean shorts for my granddaughter. Two very happy faces.
