The holidays are also perfect for those couples who enjoy announcing pregnancies in unusual ways. Ultrasounds may be slipped into stockings, or baby bibs may be hiding among the other gifts. A grandparent name book is a good way to announce the conception of the first grandchild.

My daughter and son-in-law dropped by and mentioned they had been out to eat and stopped at a book store. My son-in-law got up and handed me a paper bag and said they’d picked me up a couple of books they thought I’d like. Inside were two books about being a grandparent. What a start to an absolutely terrific adventure.
