12 Days of Christmas Fun: Sing Some Songs

By December 23, 2012

Follow me on:

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
My grandparents shared with me
A host of voices singing. . .

I love to sing Christmas songs with the family, but sometimes suddenly each member of the family is on a different verse. That's why you need lyric sheets. Many websites feature printable lyrics for Christmas songs. I like the mix of traditional and contemporary songs at BlueBonkers. If you're a long-distance grandparent, gather everyone around the computer for a Skype singalong. You can also conduct a singalong via FaceTime or just pick up the phone and serenade your loved ones.

While I'm on the subject of Christmas music, the 12 Days song that I've created can actually be sung. Try it:

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
My grandparents gave to me
A host of voices singing,
Terrific tales for telling,
Several scissors snipping,
Loving lines a-rhyming,
Cookies for the baking,
A ginger house for making,
An ornament for hanging,
Fine family scenes,
Treats for the birdies,
Sweet Yule tales,
Two helping hands
And some pj's warm and snuggly.

I love all of the Christmas songs but most years I am completely sick of them by now as you hear them so much! This year I haven’t been overexposed and I am enjoying them lots more! Oh Holy Night is probably my favorite.

I have to admit I love them all but especially like “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. “
