National Apple Dumpling Day? Ask a Stupid Question Day? If you're looking for something to celebrate in September, there's no shortage of topics vying for your attention. But why not just celebrate Grandparents Day, on September 12 this year, which is a real national holiday, signed into law by President Jimmy Carter?
Grandparents Day was not dreamed up by the greeting card industry. Its founder, Marian McQuade, envisioned a day when grandparents are honored but also a day for grandparents to show their love for their grandchildren.
The About.com Parenting and Family Channel is celebrating Grandparents Day with a blog carnival. If you're a blogger, you're invited to the party. Here's what to do:
- Before Aug. 30, write a blog post about grandparents or grandparenting.
- Include a link to this URL in your blog post.
- Email me your blog post by Aug. 30. I'll include a link to it in the blog carnival scheduled for publication on Sept. 1.
- Put "Blog Carnival" in the subject line and include the permalink to your blog post in the body.
If you are a first-time participant and need help, email me.
Sept. 12 is also National Chocolate Milkshake Day. Mmmm. Anyone up for a double celebration?
